I got a few little silver plate things at mine. Like a rattle and a small challice type thing. I know a chemist by mine sell simlar stuff in their window display so I'm sure a big high street card shop must have something like that. |

Hello Sarah When our Godson had his first communion we bought him a silver money box in the shape of a vintage car. At age 8, he probably didn't appreciate it at the time, but we thought he would like it in his room when he was older. I got it from our local jewellers, and got it engraved. Another idea, which would be most appropriate for a Catholic, would be a children's bible, with a special message from your husband inside; although he may already have had one as a christening present. Or...how about opening a savings account for him at a local Bank or Building Society, and you could pay money into it at Christmas and on birthdays. Hope that helps. Suzy |

the best place to find something if you are not sure of what of what to give is go to your catholic cathedaral (if it is close) and look in the gift shop or a good card shop will have gifts for first holy communion. I gave my godson a prayer book and rosary beads gift set. Julia |

There is a christian bookshop in our town so we're going to have a look in there for prayer books i think. Thank you all for your help, and Daniel, you are a cheeky devil :0) |

Hi Sarah My children received bibles, missals (mass books), rosary beads, crucifixes (for their bedroom walls), crucifix necklaces, cufflinks, etc. None of them received money as I was a mean mummy and said 'no'! lol Mind you they were only 7-8 years old and money would probably be ok for an older child. Hope you all have a lovely day and that the weather is kind. Daisy |

Hi daisy Conor is 9 so money is an option but i feel it's a bit of a cop-out. Thanks for your list of ideas. As a non-catholic and non-churchgoer I really have limited 'christian' knowledge for these kinds of things. Sarah xx |

The church we help out with had a 'holy sock' talk, socks had biblical pictures on them and in a pack with a little story. They have a website www(.)holysocks(.)co(.)uk Val PS Remove brackets() |
