I really need a break but don't think I can afford a holiday so does anyone need a housesitter this summer/autumn (or any time)? I am good with cats, and plants, a home watch co-ordinator so security conscious, and am a key holder to several houses locally so could supply references. I am clean and careful with other people's property, but could do with a change of scene and a rest from the daily grind. I have my own transport. Feel free to mail me direct if you think we could help each other out.

Have you thought about a house-swop for a week or so, if it's just a change of scene that you need? It would be up to you how much you spent exploring the new area, or just enjoying the change.

Have you thought about doing some sort of voluntary work for a couple of weeks - i.e. helping on an archaelogical dig or on a conservation project?

Thanks for your responses - I can't houseswap as I want to go off and leave my other half behind - need a break from him and all his son's problems that I have had to help sort out. I can't do conservation work etc much as I would like to as I am suffering from fibromyalgia and osteo arthritis - just need to potter, rest and be on my own. Wouldn't mind particularly where altho prefer somewhere quietish if poss with a garden to sit out in or potter in doing deadheading and watering, but as I would have to drive myself there not more than 300 miles from Norfolk I think. Don't want much, do I?

It's a pity we haven't met as I need a housesitter for early September. Semi detached 200metres from the sea, four cats to look after for one week. Cleveleys. Julie xxx

Are you any good with geriatrics? I told Mary I needed a good-looking nurse and she said 'OK - if I can have a toy boy'. len

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 15 Jun 2005 01:47

Len, I'm very nearly a geriatric myself which is why I don't do dog sitting - not up to long walks anymore.LOL. Tell Mary she can have my toyboy for what he is worth, then I wouldn't have to leave here, he could. Mind you I would probably get done under the trade descriptions act - he is seven years younger than me, but always the first to fall asleep in the chair!! Not quite the toyboy image everyone thinks of!

It's a pity you live on the other side of the world because we live in a small town & you could just chill out here. If you do go away make sure your other half waters the petunias as we can't have me dying can we (private Joke) I know how you feel as my other half is driving me crazy as well. Hope you get time away. Love Cilla xxxxx

Cilla - wish I could just pop down - I am sure we would have a laugh. Don't worry about the petunia - I would write a HUGE message so he had no excuse not to water it. lol
