Are cats supposed to eat birds?

Agreed, Bob. I hate having to dispose of the carcases (some half-eaten) of dead birds or field mice in my garden after the neighbour's cat's had its fun with them. I don't mind cats (but I don't like them) and I can see why the appeal to people, but I do wish there was some way they could be confined to their own territory. They're a damned nuisance in my garden - terrorising, killing and maiming other creatures, flattening my plants, scratching up newly planted areas and leaving 'deposits' which they don't always bury. I don't want them in my garden - and I'm sure the neighbours who own the cats would have objected if my dog had decided to take up residence and cause havoc in their gardens! CB >|< |

Cats are natural predators, and will kill and eat anything they can get their claws into......I think cats should be in their natural habitat, ie a zoo or jungle...... |

You can buy extra bells at the pet shop or haberdashery stores to put on cats' collars - gives the baby birds especially a little more warning. I used to squirt my cats with a water pistol if I saw them stalking birds. |

Mine do and I agree with Joan you should give worming tablets now! My cats all have bells on their collars which is supposed to warn the birds. All I can say is that the birds in Cleveleys are either all deaf or stupid! Julie xxx |

Cats eat birds, birds kill butterflies and insects, insects in general eat us. Birds of prey take other birds and animals.... There is no end to it. Humans kill everything, even each other, often for fun. Big fleas have little fleas, upon their backs to bite 'em. Little fleas have lesser fleas ..... and so ad infinitum. Len |

They are narural hunters and kill to eat. birds and small vermin. this is why they are liable to get fleas and intestinal worms for which we give a preventative treatment.(worming tablets) Birds are carriers of fleas and worms. Dont like 'em but love cats. Joan. |
