Some will recall I started a thread last week regarding the lack of respect, well today our daughter 17 walked into town, whilst there she assisted a blind gentleman cross the road, she was jeered at by a group of youths for doing this, she came home so so angry and stated that if any one of those lads had been on his own and not in a group he would probably have assisted the chap himself. She also tells us that quite a few lads at school she is in sixth form have recorded their friends doing the happy slapping thing to strangers, she is caught in the middle, if she reports them they will then come after her, if she does not report them she will feel guilty. Oh for an island in the middle of nowhere!!!!! xxhugxx |

Your daughter sounds like a lovely young woman who will do well in life unlike those yobs who made fun of her. Send her a hug from me. thankfully the yobs are a minority and like she said they would probably have helped if they had been on their own. You should be a very proud mum! Sarah xx |

Lindy She could telephone Crimestoppers free at 0800 555 111. They would not reveal her identity and, if she wished, she need not give her name. Len |

lindy take the job out of her hands and you do it, that way you can be annonymous, and it can come from any member of public, not a young girl, i suppose youll get the reply though as they do here , (if we have no proof its hard to just approach someone and accuse them), theres a house near here which is full of teenagers and 20ish year olds doing drugs and god knows what, its been reported and that they hang round outside local school dealing, but all police say is its being observed, one of the occupants thinks shes impressive trying to intimidate myself and daughter as i go to and from work, i hope your daughter continues to be the way she is for always |

I was on a crowded London bus on a hot day, some years ago, when a heavily pregnant young woman got on obviously distressed by the heat. There were a number of young people around, but none offered her their seat. I stood up despite having a bad back at the time. Immediately hal a dozen of the young offer their seats. Did they not notice? or would they have felt embarrased? Incidently, I told them not to bother. David |

Lindy, You have brought your daughter up to respect others. You have obviously done a good job. I applaud your daughter for doing what she knew was right, even though she got teased about it. ((hugs)) Jill xx |
