Although I read a great deal (at least a book a week) I tend to read reviews somewhere like Amazon, or stick to writers I'm familiar with, so I haven't had many disappointments (yes ok and it's mostly 'chick lit' tat anyway!). I loved the Bill Bryson books but was very disappointed with 'Down Under', I couldn't get into it at all. Mandy :) |

I only found BJ diary funny after I had seen the film, gave up on it before. Then found the edge of reason quite a chuckle too and I haven't seen the film. Ann Glos |

You musn't have watched the same film I saw :-). That was funny. Some low, low budget one with hilarious acting. I remember it well. |

Daniel I agree with that assessment of the book, although the film wasn't too bad, I would stick to seeing that rather than trawl through the boring book. Pat x |

Women in Love by DH Lawrence because I've never come across such a bunch of irritating characters who all want shaking in another book. |

Well... A victorian supernatural tale of one handsome young man who sells his soul for eternal youth. His portrait reflects his sins and changes accordingly, whilst he remains ever young and beautiful. In between his immoral contract he does drugs, goes to brothels, collects gems, makes perfumes and talks far too much with his wealthy friends and his own conscience. Moral of the story- Like art for art's sake, don't be influenced by it. A highly laborious book with few interesting parts. |
