Yes - for the first six months didn't touch a drop....and I do like my wine.....but now I drink wine at weekends and can always have a Gin and diet tonic.....no carbs. I read the book, which I think is a must, and cut out caffiene for a week before I started the diet - I think that this cuts out the side effects. I drank a lot of tea and was really hooked...no tea = headaches. The first week I lost 6lbs and about a 1lb-2lb after that - even if I didn't lose any I was still pleased - it wasn't weight on and I was eating food I liked and enjoyed and didn't have to count calories - points etc.... I now find that I eat a lot of fish...salmon, tuna, mackerel. Chicken is good. Bacon or sausage and eggs for breakfast. I always have broccolli and green beans, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, celery, radishes every day - cabbage, sprouts, peppers, courgettes etc...........no flour, no potatoes, no pasta, no rice I have tried many diets but always felt hungry...with Atkins there was none of this. I really need to lose another stone...so alcohol will go again and I will concentrate on the proteins...but I know it will work This is a diet which many may think is unhealthy...just to say that for the first time this year I haven't had a cold...three members of the office have had colds on and off for the last three months...me...not a sniffle (small office - only 6 of us)

Before starting on this diet PLEASE read the book...it isn't a diet you can 'play' at...you must follow the rules. You will be amazed by how much you can eat...it isn't all meat and no veg...........
