Wendy!!! Do you live THAT near me LOL We have the South Downs way behind where I live, and 'youfs' (30+) from another local estate come to ride their mini bikes on the footpath. Having worked in the local primary school 15 years ago, I'm now seeing the progeney being born + growing up. Does it make it easier to trace the family tree if there is only one or two branches ???? LOL maggie

Len... unfortunately that is exactly the truth. I used to think that the authorities were to blame - not giving enough space for trail bkiers and mini-motors, etc... but to be honest I now feel that there is definately a yob element to society - and although you can't always blame the parents, in some cases you can. These kids are being shaped and moulded to be as irresponsible and yobbish as their unruly and idiotic parents. If they had a legal and right space to ride these bikes, they probably wouldn't. Someone out there please please please tell me of a town/city or even a street where no loutish behaviour has ruined the life of someone else...please? Restore my faith in community spirit, and neighbours being there for each other...?

The awful thing is that the little ones will grow up into replicas of their parents. len

Wendy you are most welcome, are they riding the bikes on the road or on some land, if it is on land cant you find out who owns the land and ask them to stop it, sorry if you have already tried.

Wendy, come and see me for some peace and quiet, They used to use the field behind us until the man in the house and the end of the road bought the field they had to get through, then we bought the field behind, now no motorbikes, just chickens.lol

Snap Wendy! We're having the same problem. Last Sunday, having worked all week decided to spend some peaceful time in the garden. How I was wrong! Young kids up and down on those blasted bikes for about 3 hours. Hubby eventually went out and told them to clear off which they did for a while. Am now in process of getting an ASBO sheet to fill in every time they're on one - need names, address, colour of bike etc. On another note, reported to the community bobby as larger trial bikes have started going through the woods which is lovely when you're taking your dog for a peaceful walk. Hubby dragged a large branch across the path which stopped them for a while. Community bobbies response was well at least they're not on the road and if we confiscate them, they'll only go and buy another one. Great Debby

Write to the local paper (you don't need to have your name printed under the letter). Point out the dangers and the fact that the police are not willing to do anything. Sometimes this gets things done. Say you are worried for the safety of the children carried on the bikes. Ann Glos

My son's school gave out the rules about those bikes to let people know you still need a licence, tax and insurance for them and no kid under 16 allowed to ride them

Arrrgh - we have a horde of families where I live - all inter-related - who don't work but somehow find the money to buy mini motor bikes. They ride them up and down and up and down and up and down - (no helmets, naturally) with their unattractive beer bellies on display and often a can of Carlsberg in one hand and a cig in the other. So many of us have reported them to the authorities but nothing is ever done. Personally I have no objection to the adults killing or maiming themselves on these machines but I HATE to see their small children perched on the handlebars, looking absolutely terrified, and dread the day one of the tinies get hurt.
