As a Manu fan, the thought of this man taking over our club and plunging it into debt makes my blood boil. I don't know how its going to work out for Manu, but the omens don't look good.

Hello Barnsley Lass - It doesn't look good does it? It has made me really angry too as I don't think it should be allowed. What will happen now? Every and any football club can be bought for a certain price? becx

Hi Becx, did you here them say there was talk of setting up a rival club? Can't imagine any other club having the prestige that Manu has! Leese.

I'm not too happy about this but then I keep telling myself that it isn't in Malcolm Glazer's interests to let the club get into debt. I'm trying to keep an open mind. Deep down I dont want the club to change, I have been a fan of Man U for years and I think Alex Ferguson is a great manager. I wonder how this will affect him? And how will it affect the loyal fans? It could happen to any club, I think there will be more going the same way within the next couple of years. These clubs will probably have a league of their own, the mind boggles! Just where will it leave the smaller clubs that are struggling to make ends meet now? It feels like a bad dream. lol June xx

As someone who became dis ilusioned with football many years ago, may I add a few thoughts. A CLUB is a group of people who come together for a common interest. A Limited company (either Co. ltd. or PLC) is a business with the aim of making a profit for the share holders. Football clubs ceased to be the former when they became the latter. However, not one club has been run as a business. How often have they been run by a local rich business man (or woman) as their own play thing? Very few if any have brought their business acumen to running football clubs. Glazer may be the first to be using a football club that became a PLC for the purpose that it is now intended. Making a profit for himself. This could be the start of bringing football into the 21 century or returning it to the original purpose of bringing people together for the enjoyment of football rather than a hybrid of both that in the majority of cases has not worked. My only query with this deal is - how is he paying for it? He's borrowing the money! Why is he allowed to buy something that he obviously can't afford? If he were any 'normal' person, he'd have been told where to go. (Not a Man U fan)

sadly thats not true Tracy, most people borrow money to buy things these days (me included), its just in his case he can afford to borrow more than most !

Yeah, you're right Paul. Still seems silly to me, especially with the consequences of buying such a well known commodity.
