I have for the last 12 years, but the last few months it has increased in intensity. Anybody got any tips to help at all? I know there's no cure, but it gets me down sometimes. Pauline

Yes I do Pauline, mine sounds like an engine running and is worse sometimes than others. Most of the time I can ignore it. I believe that one way to manage it is to have another 'noise' to mask it e.g. music. And, as you say there is no cure it just has to be lived with. it annoys me most when I am out in the country and can't enjoy the quiet. It also afects my hearing, i jave a hearing loss and the tinnitus doesn't help. ann glos

Pauline, I can't offer you any advice, sorry, but I have a friend who is an audiologist so I'll ask her if she has any suggestions. Janice

Ohhhh !!!! Pauline ...thank God I don't have this as a problem. I do have problems with my ears...I work in an environment with a constant low noise (buzz) and feel that my ears go numb....but hearing a constant noise must be awful....I am not sure but I believe there are earphones you can wear which produce a different sort of sound which helps....I would suggest you look on the web for help and this seems so much a cop-out........ Best wishes

I can only sympathise Pauline. I had one episode a few years ago, sounded like a hurricane blowing through my head. REALLY distracting, tiring and generally wearing. Made me even more snappy, sometimes felt like I was going mad. I was lucky in that it disappeared as mysteriously as it arrived. Joan.

I know they won't listen, but warn your children. Tinnitus is on the increase because of overuse of earphones and listening to music which is too loud. Janice

Rachel Tinnitus is a constant ringing/noise inside your head that never lets up. Sometimes I can really ignore it, but other times I feel like banging my head against the wall. No matter what other noise is going on, the sound of the ringing is always there. I also have a hearing problem, so all in all am not a happy bunny. I do find that concentrating on something (like family tree bits) does take my mind off it. I shouldn't moan I suupose as there are loads worse off in the world than me. Pauline

Well........just to be different.......I never knew anything was wrong with my ears until I asked my husband a question one night about the sound in his ears!(obviously he said 'wot you talking about') Can't complain cos it's always been there but it does get louder and uncomfortable at times. Background noise helps loads. Type in tinnitus into google and there are lots of tips. Hope you find 'peace' somewhere. Stel (ears still whistling)
