Is there anybody out there who can tell me how to find out who ran the local Post Office in Sway Hampshire. I have been told it may have been a direct ancester. Brian

Post offices and their managers are listed in street directories. These are kept in local history centres/records offices. nell

The Royal Mail has archives in London. There was an a short article on it in either this months or last months 'Your Family Tree'.

May be Kellys Directories in the main Southampton Library that could give the information. Joy

1901 census as well! What was his/her name? (There are 879 inhabitants it seems.) Mary Nicholas is a Post Office clerk in 1901.

John The only thing i know which i have been told today by a very old inhabitant is that the PO was run by a lady with the surname Francis Obviously I'm a Francis and my ancesters lived in Sway from approx 1840 onwards to i don't know when Brian
