I keep getting page not found, even though I am not looking for a page! Is anyone else suffering it? I know it is not the computer , because it only happens on this site. Deanna

Fixing “Website Can’t Be Found” and other Site Error Messages More than likely you have trouble with accessing quite a few sites.....particularly getting the message 'website can't be found' among a few other error messages. Try the following and it should solve your problem. 1. Go to START. 2. Click on CONTROL PANEL. 3. Click on INTERNET OPTIONS. 4. Change NUMBER OF DAYS TO KEEP IN HISTORY to “0” and click APPLY 5. A box appears with tabs labeled across the top. Click on ADVANCED. 6. Scroll down to the sub-heading SECURITY. 7. Make sure the following has check marks next to it: Use USE SSL 2.0, USE SSL 3.0 and USE TLS 1.0. 8. Also make sure you check off EMPTY TEMPORARY INTERNET FILE WHEN BROWSER IS CLOSED. More than likely USE TLS 1.0 is not checked of and it should be. This will give you the error messages, as well as a few others, that will prevent you from viewing web sites and the error you are getting. Make sure you empty your cookies cache as well as temporary internet files once in a while, too, as this slows down your computer and these folders tend to 'remember' the errors and may continue to bring them up until the folders are emptied. This happens constantly to me - not only at home but at work and it is on this site only. I have done what is advised in the FAQ and that has made no difference at all. Because of this problem I always copy any message that I write (such as this one) so that I can just paste it again rather than retype as I had been caught out on many times. It really is putting me off using this site, I used to check the name summary at least every day and often contacted people through it, but have more or less given up. Just who do we have to contact to get something done about this? It really has only been happening in the past couple of months it seems. If it continues I certainly will not be renewing my subscription again. My friends reunited subscription has run out already and that will not be renewed until this problem is sorted. Sorry for going on but it really is very annoying. The only consulation is that others are also having the same problem. Janice

Janice I do suggest that you have another look at Judy's advice. There may be some others with this problem but most of us don't. This suggests that the problem lies at your end. Bob

Bob's right....the 'fix' I gave you fixes the error thing in many cases, and should be done but it may not always correct a problem that is being experienced at a particular site page.....if it fixes it, great, if not, there may be other avenues that need to be pursued in order to find and correct the problem. Out of curiousity, Anita, did it fix the problem you were experiencing? (Either at this site or other sites you previously couldn't access?) You got me thinking Bob, one of the reasons this fix may not work for others could be the way they are emptying their cookies and temporary internet folders....whether they are doing so by going to the top of their screens and using the TOOLS, which does not empty these folders completely or if emptying they way I explained on the '1 Stop' thread. Thanks everyone. AND JUDY...........I have all your tips printed out. I will try that one , not now..........too tired, but in the morning. Janice, mine was only on this site too, but I will try anything to fix it.Copying and pasting is a good idea. Thanks for that one. Hope it works for us folks, I sulked for hours. Deanna
