700 years BC = Before Christ - so count backwards (2BC comes before 1BC) Bob |

Before anyone asks - No there wasn't a Zero AD so the answer IS 700 and not 701 as some pedants might think. Question - If you lived BC how did you know what year it was? You couldn't know that JC would be born in 290 years time? Bob |

Glad the others answered although I had 700 years and I might add came top of the class in maths I now have a problem with current day maths re school homework. I tried to help my friends son who was very bad at mental arithmetic(11 year old) and told him the best way was to learn his times tables. He informed me he already knew those and proceeded to say them. 3 times table 3,6,9,12,15 etc. I asked him how many 4s made 12 and he told me he didn't know and that was not how times tables were done. So after that long winded explanation I have given up, I'm too old fashioned for this modern world. Pat |

My one time step-son had a real problem wiith fractions, we got through it with patience , Jaffa cakes and a knife..actually DOING the sums. I think he actually grasped the principle earlier than he let on though! Should have used sprouts! |
