We have been warned this week that they are turning up at camp soon and at RAF Brize Norton(we have to have some of their aircraft incase they break through the perimeter) What I`m saying is, I know where they are coming from, but at the end of the day we are just doing our jobs! They were here last year and throwing things(I was pregnant with Kian) It was really scary! xxxx |

Of course you are doing your job.............ie: protecting your homeland and standing up to insurgents who would deny the right to protest. Having said that, you are employed for no other reason but to protect our country. In th UK we still adhere to freedom of speech and protest. If we didn't we would surely become the 51st state of the US. |

i think protesting should not be allowed at the airforce or army bases, it's not the soldiers etc that start the wars its those in the board room, therefore it is unfair to blame those who are only doing their job. If they want to get their grievences heard they should protest outside the Houses of Parliament or Number 10 they are the ones responsible for conflict, or they could vote the government out in the General Election then they'd get the message! No I`m based at RAF Lyneham, I`m not pregnant LOL! Like Brian said, it`s the powers that be, that make us go to war(Blair and croonies who needs to get some balls and come out of Bush`s shadow)Alot of people didn`t want to go, including me!We can`t do anything about it anyway so it is pretty pointless, but when they get violent towards us! xxxx |

Kerry, Part of me says chase them away with the force of law. The other part says they have an absolute right to protest. I bet that REALLY sorts out your problem. happy days |

Kerry,These People who are protesting now,are the same people who,if there are any problems, want to know,Where are the Military, and why are they not protecting us.Just ignore them, they won,t go away, but they are in the minority. Hal. |

Yes we have freedom of speech and that includes the right to peaceful protest. but, so many of these so called protesters jump on the bandwagon because they love violence. it is the same as animal rights which started as a peaceful protest and has degenerated into violent protest. and as everyone says, target the correct people, the service personnel are only doing their jobs. The scary thing is, given the chance, they would destroy the aircraft. then where would we be if we did need them to protect our own country? Ann Glos |

when the first helicopter went down in iraq i went to our cenotaph with a bunch of yellow carnations and placed them in a vase type frame, i notice protestors had been there with some and posters saying not in our name, i was really annoyed at them using this for a point, i placed a card saying, while we slept in our beds last night these men died, i just wanted to show, these men dont ask to go they get sent, and they die while these ignorant people have the freedom to stand outside where people work who may be grieving, they shout at the wrong ones, makes me angry, who do they think they are, i was also told by a firemans son in my old job as midday supervisor , that soldiers are trained to kill , but his dad was trained to save lives and soldiers shouldnt be working as fireman in the strike, that was bacause i stopped him stamping round the school yard leading other children with his hand raised like hitler shouting 'more pay for fireman ' |

Anne its funny you should mention that as last year they got onto RAF Brize Norton and RAF Fairford and caused a serious amount of damage to aircrafts and the ones at Brize chained them selves to the runway when a C-17 was trying to land LOL xxxx |
