Hi Julie You can only get the information from a certificate by buying it which will cost £7 (I assume you are in Engand or Wales). To send off for the certificate you will need the GRO reference. Depending on when this person died, there could be a couple of different places to obtain this from. 1837online will be the best bet but this is pay per view and you would need to know an approximate year or it would be very expensive. FreeBMD has the index for free but not much after 1910 so as I said, it will depend on when the person died. Sam

Could he be a half brother with a different surname? If you know which church's vicar/priest is likely to have officiated at his funeral sevice, you may find the entry in their parish records. With the correct surname you should be able to get a death certificate.

thanks gwyneth this is the real julie anne today my daughter came on last night to ask , shes 18 and out of the blue went looking for my uncles grave, albert (my uncle) was 5 when he died and its highly unlikely he had different surname, he was the baby, and nana only had eyes for my grandad though he didnt deserve it, she wasnt allowed to go to the funeral or the grave ever as he felt it to upsetting for her, albert died of pneumonia we were told by my mum , grandad was a nasty man right up till the day he died, and he out lived my nana by a good number of years , remarried too, he was also a cruel man, my daughter wanted to find alberts grave as its unmarked it would be nice to give him flowers, then she came on idea what if he didnt die of pneumonia! thanks for your advice , well let you know if we find out any more , maybe try registry office , thanks all for your help
