Sam had to go to hospital today for his 6 monthly check up, for his medication. Hight, weight, blood pressure. Then general chat as to how he is doing. The doctor then thought he looked a bit pale and suggested a blood test just to make sure he wasnt aneamic, or that anything else was wrong. Nice blast of icy stuff on the back of his hand to deaden it, while all this was going on I and another nurse tried to distract him from his hand and what was happening. Too late, he looked and watched as the needle went in and his blood went flowing into the tube and then into a vial thing. Poor little love watched as they took the needle out, and then fainted. He is fine now after a little sleep on the sofa and a special lunch. Is upstairs playing on his x-box, and very proudly telling anyone who will listen that he fainted. Bless. |

'Poor little guy' hope he is feeling better. When my David was little he was a nightmare when it came to vaccinations. It took myself and two nurses to hold him down and then he would not talk to me for awhile. Lindy;-)) |

Hope your wee son is ok margaret. It gives the Mum a nasty shock too does it not? I took my 5ft11 1/2' nearly 18yr. daughter old for an MMR update on Wed. and she fainted in the surgery lobby a few minutes later. Sort of into my arms but I dropped her and she banged her head on the ground as well! Was quite scary ,cos until they come round you dont know what the matter is.I wasnt myself all day after that! joan. |

Hope the results of blood test are negative! It is so hard when your child is poorly, we suffer with them. Lily |

Ah, bless him. I've got a 49 year old that can do that, but doesn't proudly tell anyone. Ah, the blessing of youth. Give a hug from me. Wendy x |

Sam is 9, and quite a regular at the hospital. He is autistic and has ADHD, and is also deaf in one ear. It was for his ADHD medication check that we were at today. He has to have these every six months as the tablets can cause stunted growth and rapid weight loss, and also sleeplessness(tell me about it... groan). He has also been for a broken arm, and the time when he shoved a pebble in his ear and had to have a general anesthetic to get the flaming thing out. To be honest I dont know who got the bigger shock, me, him or the nurses. |
