My husband can wear the Home tartan which is a strange shade of blue. Does anyone else have their own tartan and do you wear it? Louise |

My maiden name was Kilpatrick which entitles me to wear the Colquhoun tartan. I have a kilt which was made for me on my 21st birthday. It doesn't fit me now :o( sob sob :o( I do have a scarf which I wear in the winter though. The tartan is navy blue, bottle green with red and white lines. Looks better than I describe it! LOL Have a look at this site http://www.clan(.)com/tartan_range.html to see if you are entitled to wear a tartan. Sue xx |

Yes, my maiden name is one of the oldest clans in Skye so we have our own tartan. My married name also has it's own tartan. Janice, haven't heard 'the first Sunday in May' mentioned for years! They don't do it heare in Edinburgh, but when I was young in Glasgow, we always got new clothes for it! Christine |

My Grandad was a Johnston, so was my mother. She was a tailoress by trade and when I was a child she made me a Johnston kilt with a green velvet waistcoat and a white lace blouse, I had long white socks and black patent shoes and I felt like the bee's whiskers wearing this lovely outfit. That was 50 years ago. Recently my Son gave me a Johnston tarten scarf for my birthday. Jo. |

Farquharson is a name that features prominently in my ancestry on my mum's side, they have their own tartan. Apparently they were one of the first to flee the battle of Culloden - last battle fought on British soil - wise fellows! |

At one time they used to say you could only wear tartan if your family name was assosciated with a clan, but nowadays there's The Rangers tartan, Braveheart tartan, etc. So anyone can wear it! You even get kilts made in any colour even pin stripe ones! Christine |

My ancestors were from Dundee, named Ross, so does that qualify me for the Ross tartan, whatever colours they were. |
