It was the first time i have been to help...... There are so many animals and it takes ages to clean them out. They had donkeys, foxes, swans, ducks, birds, rabbits, hedgehogs...the list goes on! I have had a wonderful day. It is in the middle of nowhere so its nice and peaceful. |

Leveret is the word used for a hare under a year old. I have also seen this used for young rabbits (rabbits and hares are 'cousins'), although most dictionaries I've read define bunny as any young rabbit. So bunny is a perfectly good word to describe a baby rabbit, but leveret is good if you want to be tricky. Additional info: Originally, the word 'rabbit' was the word used to refer to the baby animals. An adult was called a 'cony.' Now the word rabbit is used for both adults and young. People who breed rabbits call males 'bucks' and females 'does,' the same words that are used for deer. |

Just checked about kitten, it's the young of a cat, rabbit and various mammals. Hubby even suggested ferret. Louise |

I've never heard leveret to describe a young rabbit. The word is a diminutive of the French word for hare - levre. |
