You are being treated to the opera or operatic concert. Which opera; which 'tune'; which singer past or present.? Not mandatory, but a reason why might be as interesting as your choices. Am curious to see if anyone shares my own preferences. happy days

Oh Harry - another opera lover?!! It would be hard to choose just one, but I adore Mozart's 'Marriage of Figaro'. I love Joan Sutherland's voice so I guess she would be in it, there was also a tenor from the 60's whose voice I love but he wasn't that famous and I can't recall his name!!

In particularly Girls Were made to Love and Kiss......The Merry Widow, Bohemian Girl, Count John McCormack singing You will Remember Me.....Joan Sutherland singing Marble Halls.....Caruso....Gigli....singing anything. Walter Husdton singing September Song..... and lots more!! BC Oh yes and anything from Carmen......

Couple of joan Sutherland fans - excellent choice. Buttercup brings operetta into it - what a beautiful world to live in - 'Land of smiles ' for me. Em, if and when you do go, the suggestion is made for you above. I thing Madam butterfly would be an excellent starting point - but be prepared to cry. many thanks for your interest. happy days

The Pearl Fishers by Bizet (Largely because I like 'also-rans' - Carmen has been done to death and I've always thought The PFs deserved more attention). (And because 'Au fond du temple saint' is one of the most beautiful things ever written). Simon

Simon - I have to agree - wonderful duet! Em, another good choice would be La Boheme - again, take the tissues!

Not an opera, a requiem - Faure's, with Kiri Te Kanawa singing 'Pie Jesu' (sp?) Awesome!

It would have to be Tchaikovsky's 'Eugene Onegin' for me. Special request - Lensky's aria sung by Dmitri Hvrostovsky, please. CB >|<
