He's 10, will be 11 in May and has gone off to North Norfolk until Friday with his year group on a school journey. But he's my baby and I miss him sooooooooooooooo much! I am not normally mushy and I didn't worry at all about his big brother when he went, but I feel quite lost! nell

You have my sympathy. Last year Jack went away on cub camp for a week (he was 9 at the time) and it was horrible while he was away. Even though he drives me absolutely mental at times it was really weird him not being here for a week.

Nell, I know just how you feel. My 6'2' 16-year-old will always be my baby! He's studying for forthcoming GCSEs and I'm trying to hug him through them! Then he's planning to go on a school trip to Kenya next summer ... KENYA?????????? waaaaaagh. Have already booked asylum bed plus kleenex, chocolate and prozac. Mandy :)

Nell, is the place he's gone to called Hilltop by any chance? All 4 of mine went there with their school when they were about his age and they absolutely loved it, still talk about it years later. I bet he's having the time of his life, and is being kept too busy to be missing you atall! Carolyn

Thanks. I'm feeling better already! My older son returned from a rugby tournament today after an exhausting weekend of rugby and birthday parties, and was asleep by 8.00 which is unheard of! Husband and I had a conversation without interruptions!!!! Love to all! nell

Hi Nell My baby is 27 and I left him behind in Essex when I moved to North Yorkshire 4 years ago We speak on phone during the week and he tells me that listening to me mixing a senior moment with a blond one does him no good at all I miss him like only a mum would know - but made my day today when he phoned to say he would be up for the weekend 9th April not seen him since November - it will be Christmas in North Yorks in April. Cant wait They grow up too fast when they are older and not fast enough when small Ann lol xx

Nell it's horrible isn't it? You want them to have lots of adventures and be independent but it doesn't stop you missing them. My daughter keeps going off on her gap year adventures which she's really enjoying, but I miss her so much. We all do! Am sending you a big hug because I really am mushy and soppy! Daisy

My baby is off to university in October and 'empty nest syndrome' has already kicked in!! Tears appear from nowhere whenever i imagine him not being in his room every night.
