Our new family discovery centre is opening next week in Gosport. Records from Winchester record office are going to be copied and sent here. Lots of info to search through. No more trips to Portsmouth Library. Should be fun. Can't wait. Jane |

Hi Tracy and Grampa Jim From what i can gather the family history centre is in the old museum site just across from the library. It should be opening on the 3rd Mar so i've been told. I hope this is right No doubt we will all meet up there sometime. Jane |

Thats really good news - thanks for that Jane its the first I have heard of it! We prob will bump into each other at some time. If I get a chance to pop down there Cheryl I will find out the e-mail address for you - what year where you in school there - was it a boys school too as I remember my dad mentioning going to school there and maybe even my mum! Hi could somebody be more explicit as to where it is please? it is ages since I was in gosport so don't know where the museum is. used to live there in 1960 but everything has changed so much. is it in the High street? hope to be down that way in may so could pay it a visit. Thanks Ann Glos |

Has this just..come about..or is it in answer to requests from library members? I ask because I wonder if it is something we could try for at our library? It would be such a help to the likes of me who cannot go travelling. Deanna |

Deanne I'm not sure how it came about but i think that they wanted to improve the library and make it a discovery centre aswell. Someone must have thought that a family discovery centre should be part of it. Jane |
