Hi, I order one at a time from the ONC and put information for them to check before issueing a certificate. If it's the wrong one you only get charged for a search not the full cost. Then I order the next most likely. Not the cheapest hobby in the world, is it? If only I'd known .................... Gwynne

Hopefully Jan. I'm not going to know where i am with the cheques otherwise and besides i think my bank will not be very happy if i ask them for a new cheque book every week. Alyson

No Alison but thanks for the warning. Sounds a bit ridiculous doesn't it. Maybe they trying to put us all off. No chance, there must be other ways. Perhaps someone else on here has found a way around. J

Today after a visit to my local records office i telephoned Plymouth registry office to check on two possible birth entries that i had found for my g g grandmother. I was told that they no longer do this and i would have to send two forms and two cheques to cover even though i was only looking for one person. I then telephoned Newcastle registry office looking for confirmation of a death( have about 40 possibilities) only to be told the same thing as Plymouth had said earlier. So to find 1 birth and 1 death (not guaranteed) would cost me about 41 cheques.Anybody else had this experience. Regards Alyson
