They never fail to suprise me.... I've spent the last week moaning, It's half term and thats allways hard work Yesterday the plan was to go swimming, but I've had a cough/cold for several weeks, and didn't real want to take a chance on making it worse. SO what could we do???????? Was going to go ice skating.... but could i manage all 4 of them and skate.... I DOUBT IT Also I have a bad knee that I didn't think would stand up to it. SO what could we do?????? Finally decided that we would go to London. Tower bridge experiance. SO off we go.... When we arrive it costs me £8.50 to get in (I had a BOGOF offer!!! and I fibbed and said Ben wasn't 5yet ) THEN we discover the lift going up isn't working!!!! After 220 steps ( kids counted them!) and several breaks I MADE IT!!!!! The kids loved it, tooks loads of photos I froze everytime they opened a window to take one, and paniced because they insisted on putting the camera outside, god know how many feet up we were The lift down did work. Went round the engine rooms then the gift shop, Had even manage dto get the kids thru the shop without spending any money!!! When some SILLY idiot says....... As you've paid for the bridge, did you know you can visit the monument half price?? SO there's me trying to get the kids outside before they hear, NO SUCH LUCK Then comes the kids chorus... Can we mum.. oh please mum...go on mum!! Yes I was a wimp... I GAVE IN. So off we went to the monument. 311 steps up 311 steps down I thought I was going to be sick. The kids left me and raced to the top, I have no idea how many people overtook me. BUT I made it. My bad knee was in agony!!!!! By the time I get to the top the kids were ready to come down!! Another row, I'm not coming all that way to go straight back. OMG it was freezing. Then the kids wanted to drive the DLR so we went off to Greenwich to view the Cutty Sark, a walk under the Thames, kids did the steps, I did the lift LOL Then home... Can i ask why in this mordern age so many places have steps????? Finally home at 7pm, totally knackered Kids fighting and squabbling most of the way home. Was really cross, thought I'd gone out of my way to do something with them and this was the thanks I got THEN COMES THE SUPRISE...... Had just finished moaning to friend on messenger, turned off comp, and gone to bed. On my pillow was a card and letter. The card had a picture of playing cards on it, Big ace of hearts on front, It told me I had the biggest heart in the pack!!!! The letter thanked me for a lovely day, Kerry even admited she had learnt something and enjoyed most of the day!! This morning I got tea and toast in bed, cos they knew i'd be tired and in pain after yesterday. So for all my moans.... I must be doing something right????? And they're not quite so bad after all??????
