Rose, It sounds a lovely place to have a drink and a meal.... I'll keep it in mind if I'm ever your way. Viv (in Letchworth)

If it's the same one Rose, I thought it was lovely before. Warm and welcoming and he made us steaming hot cups of coffee. Just what we needed in the biting wind. It was so misty that day, that we got lost and ended up outside a prison:)))) Chrissie x

That's how it used to be Chrissie, but you should see it now.It has been opened up and a whole new function room has been built on the side,It is excellent. I do worry about Dan and Jackie as they work so hard. They are my age and should be retiring .-Rose

Hi Rose Would that be the pub we went in once? All I can remember is that it was a freezing cold day and they had a lovely fire. I seem to remember that you went through a narrow bit and I THINK down a few stept before you got to the fire at the back. Chrissie x

I had a pleasant evening meal, but I would have liked your company all of you. My friends run the Pulpit Inn -Down at the bottom of the Isle of Portland. They have been there for about 20 years and came the same time as we did. I can go there alone and never feel awkward as a woman alone can in some pubs. If you are ever on Portland it is about the best pub to go to. The Pulpit-Is named after the Pulpit Rock which is a huge stack just about attached to the land mass. It is a favourite climb for the sober and not so sober. And before you ask-NO I have never attempted it.It is quite a feature and the subject of many paintings.I am often asked to paint it for tourists. Next time anyof you are in the area, we will meet at The Pulpit.Dan and Jackie will make you welcome. There you go.I'm stone cold sober-Rose
