My son was less than 3 years old when he took one look at a war memorial and piped up with 'I had one of those (a rifle with a bayonet) and when my friend hurt his leg we turned it upside down to help him walk' !! - to my certain knowledge he had never ever seen a war film or book with this portrayed - so you tell me where he got it from! My grandaughter used to talk about when she was a lady before she was a little girl - we corrected her often telling her she would BECOME a lady but she was adamant - I only wish I had asked her about it now - but it hasn't been mentioned for a while - too much correcting going on I expect - she is 4 years old. Wife just reminded me he also said he used to stamp the union cards there as well. Another time he was with his Grandad(his best mate back then) when he said 'Uncle Jimmy was with us today and he had his cap on' Uncle Jimmy always wore a cap and he died 2 years before my son James was born. Very interesting Annie, would you like to share what you told me? if not i will keep your confidence. Peter

When my son was only 3.5 years old my sister took him to the beach at South shields. On the way back they passed Tyne Dock, he then said 'Auntie thats where i helped the men when the ship was in trouble' pause 'when i was a man' Have we been here before? as this was not the only example of him coming out with strange statements as a young child.
