Hi CB, Nudging for you--what a shame! Maybe everybody's been to busy to look in on the thread over the last couple of days? Jenny already knows I can't come, but I'm hoping someone will have a bacardi and coke on my behalf! Hoping some of you will be able to meet me when I come up in July. Can't wait for the Tall Ships! Sal.X

Hi Sal, How about a few lessons in Geordie before I go 'oop'? I'm a 'soft Sootherner' and haven't heard the 'dulcet tones' of the North-East much since my Dad died in 1961. I can just about remember the tune to 'Keep yer feet still, Geordie Hinny'! LoL CB >|< X

I remember a mate of mine once saying that Newcastle Brown Ale was called Dog, and that people would say, can I have a bottle of Dog. Why dog, I can't remember, anyone know?

Andy, Never heard it called dog--its always 'a bottle o' broon'! (As in 'Ah'm gannin doon the toon fer a bottle o' broon'). Wey, CB, pet, hev yer not seen wor Peter's Geordie thread? It's chock full o' Geordies takkin propa like, man. Gerron ther with yer--yu'll be takkin geet canny Geordie before yer kna it! Translation--Dear CB darling, have you not been witness to Peter's thread regarding the Geordie language? There are several Persons of Geordie Origin chatting on there, using their correct vernacular--you will be talking in our native tongue rather quickly.
