Because my grandparents, on my father's side were first cousins once removed, my Kinship shows me to be my own third cousin once removed, and I am the same to my siblings and fourth cousin to my nephews and nieces - is anyone able to tell me if this is correct? I hope so because it would mean I needn't talk to myself, but to this 'cousin'! Anne A

Anne Well, it will be easy for you to get in touch with yourself then! This is true. And for your grandparents, they were also related by blood as well as marriage to their in-laws. nell

Hi Anne, I've mentioned this before, but my grandparents were first cousins. This made my grandad's aunt also his mother-in-law, his cousins his sisters-in-law, and my Mam's gran also her great aunt. I am not only my Mam's daughter but also a distant cousin! It's just got even more complicated as I learnt a few weeks ago that great gran wasn't great gran at all but great great aunt was great gran, and great gran was just great step gran. Even worse great step gran's child was not great grandad's child, but another man's child, making her great grandad's step-child! Are you all still following???
