Emma, my love, don't despair. It probably means you're descended from King Alfred! He's supposed to have 'burnt the cakes' too! LoL (If I had a fiver for every cake I've burnt, I'd be a wealthy woman!) CB >|< X

The trick with burned cake is to slice the burned bits off and smother it in icing. Not that I'd know anything about that, I can't bake, won't bake. nell

Emma, er sorry, Alfred, Are you using a fan-assisted oven by any chance? When I first got one, I didn't realise you had to lower the temperature on recipes by at least 10 degrees to prevent things burning. Just a thought. CB >|< X
