Hi Kevin, I think you are lucky finding relatives on the 1901. I can't find any of my paternal line in London Or Burton. I'm not sure that the Indians (who transcribed 1901) know that ditto meens 'same as above'. The census for 1891 that I have is so badly written that even me - an Englishman - can't read 50% of it! Good luck with your detective work - John.

Hi, I have been looking for my great grandad John Wood, the only possible i have found ie right place, right time in 1901 census. JOHN WOOD b.bristol 14 HARRY WOOD bristol 21 WILLIAM WOOD bristol 20 BERTHA WOOD bristol 12 ELIZABETH WOOD bath 48 ALICE M STRANGE bath 72 sister Thought fantastic found his mum and her maiden name, So went to 1891: After searching for days found: ELIZABETH WOOD bristol? 30? ALICE STRANGE bristol 17?(might be 27 not 72 in 1901) HARRY STRANGE? bristol 12 WILLIE STRANGE? bristol 11 BERTHA WOOD bristol 2 JACK? WOOD bristol 4(says granddaughter not gson, can live with that though) MARY STRANGE bristol 56 So first name are right except john has changed to jack, surnames have changed a bit and some ages are wrong. Surely has to them though!! So i thought try 1881: MARY STRANGE 48? ALICE STRANGE 8 HARRY WOOD? 1 WILLIE WOOD? 1 No parents there, it also says w and h boarders not grandsons and names changed to wood again. Please somebody have an idea as to what is going on!! Kev
