Hi Sandra, I'm sorry you have been having health problems--I must have missed that thread. Hope you feel better soon. It's nice to have some good news, isn't it? I found my great grandad's great nephew (what does that make him to me?!) on the site last weekend and he's already been kind enough to send me loads of info on a branch I was stuck on. It was the 5th cousin I found through GR but the first one who lives in my home town, which was especially nice. This cousin has told me where great grandad and lots of rellies are buried--I can't wait to go and leave flowers for them. Sal.x |

Hello, a lurker here. I, too, have found a second cousin. Actually, through this site. His grandfather was my grandfather's brother. He has told me so many family stories. As I came to Australia with my parents when I was 3, these stories are precious to me. I have a lot of facts and figures, but he has told me where they lived, their jobs and funny little stories as well as sad ones. He has exchanged photos and certificates with me and 'introduced' me to other more distant relatives. I have also sent him to visit my Uncle. My cousin lives about 15 minutes from my Uncle but didn't know he was still alive. Very exciting!! Sue |

I'm really pleased for you Sandra. It's especially good finding an older person who can actually remember the folk you are interested in. |

What a brilliant idea to leave a message on a grave. I'm off to see if I can find the grave of my g/grandfather next Monday so that suggestion is definitely worth a thought. Thanks, Sandra, and so pleased to hear of your contact. It gives you a buzz like no other doesn't it ?! |

Sandra I am just excited as you lol Its a wonderful feeling isn't it? I started a thread here and on the tips & Records boards last night as I had written to a complete stranger from the electoral roll found on B4U search web site. I enclosed my address, e mail and phone number . This was on Tuesday I sent the letter 2nd class. They e mailed me yesterday afternoon and called me in the afternoon. He is my grt Grandma's nephew...........I felt quite emotional and could have talked for hours. They have invited us over and have so much history to tell its really quite staggering that they can bring my research to live. Good luck and much happiness Debi |
