Like Maz and Karen I live quite near this store. They had 10 settees for sale at that price. At 4 p.m. there were already 30 people queuing. What sort of mentality have the other 5,990 got that they stayed there. Did they think that Ikea was going to give the store away? Jean x. |

Yeah Karen - and I forgot and thought the fireworks were for Chinese New Year!! Ikea always open their stores with these sorts of deals, so you think they would be more prepared. Obviously don't know us locals very well!! Maz. XX |

Edmonton Its going to pot anyway......Glad I dont live there anymore. If I had forty five quid, i'd been in the que too. Never look a gift horse ect. Shame security measures were not as good as could have been. Ikea should pay a fine, firstly for having a sale at the dead of night (where trouble often erupts under the cloak of darkness) and secondly for not having enough saftey and security measures in place. Has anyone seen the new ikea at Edmonton? We passed it a few weeks ago & it was massive....and with the constant tv ads for the sale, it was sure to generate thousands of buyers.... Elaine x |

sorry, don't understand that statement. Ikea are relatively cheap, how do they trade in greed ? This was a one of promotion, and I'm sure they'll think twice before they do it again... They aren't the only one to have done it either - there are queues annually at various sales... |

Can`t believe this happened. I love Ikea, hope it doesn`t get a bad name because of peoples greed, I mean is a £45 sofa worth fighting for or getting stabbed?? I go to the one in Bristol, quite alot, Chris says I may as well live there....xxx |

They did have security, but it wasn't enough. Apparrently they'd estimated 2000 woul turn up but they've estimated that 6000 arrived.. Theres some culpability from ikea themselves, but the blame really lies with those overcome by greed |

It was just up the road from me but I WASN'T THERE!!! Friend of a friend was there and said it was just crazy - 4,000 people trying to fit through a tiny door. Punch ups all round. Doors ripped off and people trampled. Was going to visit this weekend, but not sure now when it will be open. Maz. XX |

Did anyone else hear about the 'crowd trouble' at the opening of a new ikea in Edmonton last night ? apparrently they weer offering various special offers, like leather sofas for £45 and thousands turned up - several were injured as the crowd turned nasty. People's greed will never cease to amaze me. |
