I agree with titles that recognise someone for acheivements that benefit mankind. Im sure there are loads who should be recognised...but for a personal achievement?? I'd say no. Sue xx |

I would unless they preferred not to, and I would expect the same if I had one. Now I must wake up soon :-) |

Recognition can be in many ways. A ride on an open top bus round their city, name in the paper, so everyone will know of their great achievement. If I met Elton John or Cliff Richard I never address them as Sir. |

It's given by the country in recognition for something exceptional (usually) |

Its difficult isn't it.The obe etc type of titles are supposed to honour the people who have done something outstanding,Ellen has abviously done that. How else can the country say Well Done and give her a mark of honour. We only have the Honours system. Can you suggest something else perhaps more in keeping with your point of view,Rose By the way any one of us can put forward the name of anyone who we feel is worthy of recognition -So nominate the Doctor or Nurse of your choice. |

I agree doctors and nurses should have more money. They probably wouldnt want a medal, but what I am saying is that titles are meaningless. Then are bestowed upon one human being by another !!!!! Just my personal feelings. |

But if we gave them to all the doctors etc then they would become meaningless. If everyone had one then there would have to be something else, something better. I would imagine those in the public services would prefer more money than a title. |

I agree with daniel, she deserve's it!! i mean if footballers can score a goal within 90mins, and win for their country, and get a knighthood, by god this little girl deserves it, alone for 2 months, through choppy seas, pure exhaustion, no proper home cooked meals, lack of sleep, stuck on a tiny boat. GOOD ON YOU GIRL. be british and proud, WELL DONE ELLEN!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I agree she has done a wonderful thing, so brave but titles mean nothing. People get them for a singing career but they get paid and are millionaires what about doctors and nurses no reward at all. |

I agree with it. Doesn't matter of her age. She has done something other 50+ year olds haven't and probably won't ever do. |
