Marriage Licence?

One of my ancestors marriage certificate in 1771 Suffolk didn't have his fathers name on so someone suggested to me that I try to find the marriage licence. Does anyone have any idea where I could do this or even if there would be one? He also said to try and find a will but even if I found his it wouldn't say his parents names on it would it? plus he was only a lowly labourer so I doubt he would have one. All help and advice welcome!

I think the marriage licences would be at the relevant county records office. Most of these have websites now, so you may be able to search their catalogue online. nell
