german sabbath knife

my husband was given a german sabbath knife when his grandfather passed away, it is understood that he took this knife from a german soldier during the second world war, whilst held captive. who legally own's this knife?

I remember my husband had a gun in his possession when I first met him - spoils of the Indonesian war! He handed it in to the police in Rotterdam. Sylvia xxx
