I read somewhere that there over 200 accents in the uk alone..It makes me wonder why and how it is so varied. But i'm glad it is, as it certainly makes it more interesting.

I suppose it helps to have heard an accent before you know whether you like it or not..The reason I say Canadian is because we were selling a camper van and when this canadian fella rang enquiring about it, I kept him talking for an hour, poor thing :) and no he didn't buy the van. But there are many uk accents I like too.

I love Belfast accents its my favourite, followed by any northern one. Anne ;o))

Have to agree with Canadian and Southern Ireland, also like Highland accents, anf Geordies too Don't like Aberdonian (sorry) Glaswegian, or New York Bronx type of accents or Texan. Christine

No, Ian Paisley wouldn't be my choice of bedtime story reader either! Not mad on Brummie accents that sound really flat, but generally I enjoy the diversity of our language. nell

Which Accents do you love and which ones make you cringe.. Personally I love a soft Irish, and Canadian:) Not keen on those barking tones of Ian paisley though.
