Is there a worrying gene? I have it in bucket loads - Worst Case Scenario doesn't come close. I hate flying & thunderstorms oh and the dentist. My Dad was the same about flying but he's okay now so there's hope for me yet. His Mum was just like me, and she used to hide the cutlery away if there was a storm! Saz |

Our two sets of twins were pretty obviously their father's family,They all looked more like quads. Then we had a singleton. He was immediately claimed by my mother as being the image of my father. As he grew to adult hood his whole physique was different from his brothers'.He grew into a very tall ,heavily built man.One wondered where the genes came from. Many years later,he is now 40,we moved his paternal grandmother down here to live:in amongst all of her things we found when packing was a photograph of HER FATHER.i THOUGHT I WAS LOOKING AT A PICTURE OF MY SON. It was quite a shock-he may not look like his brothers, who look like their father, but he is the image of his great grandfather. |

I resemble my Mum's side of the family and my elder daughter takes after me, with pale complexion and blue eyes. My son and younger daughter take after their dad, my husband. Why then do some people think the girls are twins, - there's over 6 years difference in age? Some even talk to one daughter believing they are speaking to the other one. Surely I don't look like my husband?!! |

Apart from my eyes, I am my dad's girl. My mum says I resembled his mum physically and I have photos of my grannie and my dad and me where it's really clear we are related. Personality-wise, I can see dad more than mum, perhaps because my dad is dead. But I do like to get everywhere early which is a trait I got from my mum's mum, who was always a bit "previous". nell |

My mom used to say that I look like her M-i-L, as my nan died 1 year after I was born, about the same time as my mom & dad seperated I can only take her word for it, as I have never seen a photo of her, but when I met my half sisters, from my dads 2nd marriage, I could see a resemblance, so may be I do look a bit like her. I am the spitting image of my Maternal Great Grandmother, Louisa Matilda Walles. She was born in 1862 and we have an old photograph of her in her 30's. My brother thought I'd been to a studio and got dressed up in old fashioned clothes! lol Naomi x |

There is a "short gene" in my husbands family eg under 5ft. My grand daughter has it, a brother in law has it, another cousin has it and further back a lot of people have it. Its hard to go back further as of course there were no photos, it just seems to pop up out of nowhere - a recessive gene I believe. |

I went to Seaton Sluice which is where my mum's family came from and we were sat having a meal when a woman approached me and said, "You're one of Suzy's." She was referring to my mum's mum (Susannah) who died five years before I was born yet she spotted the resemblance. Lorrainex |

Do you have a similar characteristic to an ancestor. Has someone in your family ( Mum or Dad ) ever said to you. "Your just like Grandad/Grandma....Uncle/Aunt"..... Your bad temperment is just like.....blah,blah.??? Maybe you have the same eyes as Gran or Grandad: The nose: The mouth:......or maybe your attitude?? Our eyes are our features on my dads side. My baby sister and younger brother look like my mums side. Tony Oz |
