Dear All,l thought l would share a nasty moment with you all, that occured on Saturday morning. As usual l went to take a 91 year old boy to do his shopping,l do this every other Saturday, and this Saturday was no diffrent from any others,l went in checked his windows.make sure he had everything he wanted. We went off to do his shopping,on returning to his flat,l found it was on fire,l proceeded to contact emergency services, but while doing this, the old boy went inside to save his sacred possesions ie photos of late wife, and money he had hidden. l could do no other than go in myself to find him,it was thick acrid dense smoke, after a few mins looking, and my lungs near to bursting l found him,we both ended up in hospitial, with smoke inhalation. He so nearly didnt reach his 92 birthday, because he wanted to save those loving possesions.

I am pleased to hear that you both came out with your lives. Although a brave thing it was also a sillly thing for you both to do. Having said that, I am sure there are many of us that would do the same. first as the old man did, to rescue prized possesions and then as you did to get him out. I hope you are both OK this morning and not too shocked. Jacky x

Glad that you are both here to tell the tale. That must have been a dreadful experience and although we all know what we SHOULD do, it's another matter when we're faced with an emergency and other instincts take over.

The others are right, very brave and very silly, but let's be honest I'm sure we would all do the same in that situation. I know I couldn't stand back leaving someone inside a burning building. M.

Glad you both came out of the experience relatively unscathed...my mum lives alone, I worry about her all the time, but she's entitled to her independence. take care, Paul

Reason for the fire starting,is unknown as yet, although as lm sat here, there are fire investigators at the flat.its hard to know what any one of us would do in a situation like what happened.Again many thanks for all your kind thoughtsand comments, its making it easier to cope with, sharing my thoughts.
