Quote - "I found a contact who confirmed my ancestor as Robert the Bruce. It soon turned out I was also descended from William the Conqueror and I have royal blood.' Lawrence. I do hope he's got all the certificates for this!

... for those who have not seen it, and would like to:- Dear Joy, Thank you to all of our members, both new and old, for making Genes Reunited the success it is today. You are now adding 2 relatives every second to the site! So, don’t forget to check regularly for matches - you could discover many more new relatives among our 26 million names. Click here to search now. New search tool to help you find more connections In December we launched a powerful new search tool. Different spellings of the same surname were common in the past, eg Ward, Warde, Waud. This can make tracing your family tree very difficult. So, we’ve solved the problem for you – just search for an individual on Genes Reunited and it automatically looks for any surname or first name variants. Success stories - we'd love to hear yours ! We receive amazing success stories every day – here are just a couple of examples to encourage you to carry on with your family tree. ‘I have just got in contact with my natural father after 48 years. It was all down to Genes Reunited. I have now visited his 6 brothers and 2 sisters, and all their children. It was a very moving experience, so a big thank you.’ Wayne ‘I found a contact who confirmed my ancestor as Robert the Bruce. It soon turned out I was also descended from William the Conqueror and I have royal blood.’ Lawrence Did you know? Handshakes originated on the battle field as early as 1066. Warriors held each other's forearms both as a sign of peace and to make sure they didn’t have any hidden weapons. And don’t forget... You may be thinking about a romantic Valentine’s day but Mother’s Day is just around the corner. So remember Sunday 6th March and do something special for your mum. (Or, remind your children to do something nice for you!) And, if you are a mum and daughter or son reunited and would like to share your story with others, a national consumer magazine wants to hear about it. Please contact the Genes Team on 01883 717468 or email press at sign friendsreunited(.)co(.)uk. Best wishes, Genes Reunited

Janet, I reckon anyone who is descended from royalty has a much better chance of being able to trace their ancestry than most of the rest of us. There are enough records available to trace royal lines. If only it was that easy for everyone! CB >|<
