Linda, I know just how you feel, I had to have my dog put to sleep last Friday. I feel like my heart is breaking, and some of the time I feel I want to die to be with him. I try to comfort myself by remembering he was an old boy who was very sick and he went quickly and with dignity, the alternative would have been awful. He's at peace now, it's just me that's suffering so. Luv Trish xxx

Linda, I know how you feel. It's been 10 years since we had our Monique put to sleep; she was just a little younger than your kitty. I still cry at times like this, when I think of what you are going through and what I went through. Even though we had kitties before Monique, none of them affected me like she did. Monique was my pal and it sounds like your kitty was yours, too. I adopted an orphaned kitten about three weeks after Monique left; but acquiring another pet isn't the answer for some people. I'm thinking of you and sending hugs, Lisa. PS Thinking of those who've also recently lost pets and those who have sick pets.

Some years ago when we had to have our Newfoundland Sam put to sleep and the vet some days later rang to say I have a dog who desperately needs a home - my daughter who was visiting - asked 'why are you going to put yourselves through all of this again in the future' and I just pointed out all the love and fun we would have missed if we had thought that before we rescued Sam at 3 mth old (also from the vet). It hurts when we lose them - they give unconditional love. How fortunate you were to have her all of those years. Ann

Linda, I do feel for you. In 1997 we lost 3 cats. BUT - time really does heal, we still miss them, but we have since taken in 5 cats, so we like to think that the 3 we lost "gave them a home". Take care, Glenys x
