The preacher's Sunday sermon was, "Forgive Your Enemies." He asked all present how many have forgiven their enemies. About half held up their hands. He then repeated his question. Now about 80 percent held up their hands. He then repeated his question. All responded, except one elderly lady. "Mrs. Jones, are you not willing to forgive your enemies?" "I don't have any." "Mrs. Jones, that is very unusual. How old are you?" "Ninety-three." she replied. "Mrs. Jones, please come down in front and tell the congregation how a person cannot have an enemy in the world?" The little sweetheart of a lady tottered down the aisle, and said, "It's easy, I just outlived all those witches.

Yes, ask all those who posted on the "bring back hanging and flogging" thread who believe in an eye for an eye if they can forgive. I guess it is easier to forgive things that haven't upset you much. nell

I can forgive most things, usually the minor everyday snipes and arguments. But there is one person on this earth that will never, ever be forgiven for what he did to me and my family. I really hope he rots in hell where he deserves to be. If that makes me a bad and wicked person, so be it. What goes round, comes round and one day he will get what he so richly deserves. Maggie

I can never forgive certain things. I just can't, I've tried but the scars won't heal. I try to be a good person and not do anyone an injustice. But I cannot, it's like trying to wrench my arm off. Sorry. Jo.

There is only 1 person in this world I will never forgive and others I may forgive in time but I will never forget as I know they will do it again. But if the people really meant it yes I would forgive but they would have to prove themselves that it wouldn't happen again.

I really do think it depends on what you are being asked to forgive! Every day squabbles, yes! no problems.. Things said in the heat of the moment... yes! no problem.. But, sometimes, when some-one has hurt you so deeply and scars are there everyday, then forgiveness is a lot harder.. I have one person that I would never forgive.. and I hope that I am around when the day comes that this person gets their come-uppence!! I will rejoice!! Mazzie xx
