My fellas boy is 14 - he goes thru phases with his medication. Generally on a school day he is okay - takes an 8 hours slow release AM, and is supposed to take another half tab at lunchtime, but often forgets/neglects/refuses to. Weekends he only really has one on Sunday's as he plays football and needs to be calm. But the reason he gives when refusing is usually because they prevent him sleeping - the not eating doesnt seem to bother him as he is faddy about what he eats anyway - but I can see how tired he looks at weekends, so he obviously isn't getting enough rest, which must be detrimental as he is on 'overdrive' most of the time as it is........he must be burning himself out I guess. |

After doing the usual begging, please take your tablets, to screaming in frustration ( me, not him ). If I really cant get him to take them on a school day I take his morning ones with me, and he usually takes them like a wee lamb for his teacher. While Im left standing there red faced and fuming. If its a weekend or holiday I just leave it for a while and he will eventually take them. Maggie |

Does anyone else have a problem with their ADHD sufferer refusing to take their medication, although they admit it does make them feel better and enjoy life more. He is aged 13 nearly. How do you persuade yours? Abigail |
