Bridget I have had a computer for yonks and in my pre-children job I worked with DOS (pre-windows operating system). I can use laptops and tablets, but I have to say I have no idea what you are talking about! sorry, nell

Not a compter expert, but I think what it's trying to tell you is that the application the document was written in is not one that is loaded on your computer (an application is a program like word; excel; etc.) Try right clicking on the file and looking at "Properties" which will show what the file extension is, this may give an indication. Otherwise right click and go to "open with" and try various options (Internet explorer often works). Otherwise it may be in Adobe Acrobat or similar which you will have to download from the internet. Hope that makes sense.

Have only had my computor a few month's and thought I was doing ok(just) Had not even switched one on before (STOP LAUGHING) have just recieved E-mail from friend in U.S.A only it's different from other's Ive had, my computor is telling me to create an association in the folder option's control panel, have gone into this part but dont know what to do next and feeling really stupid-PLEASE PLEASE HELP .
