June, When dad was young he thought his birthday was 23rd feb but he was from Ireland and his family were poor so they never celebrated birthdays.when Dad came here(1950's) he needed a copy of his birth cert so he could join the RFA and when it came it said his birthday was 3rd feb so thats what i've always known it as.then about 3yrs ago he needed a long copy of his birth cert and when it came it said 23rd feb---seems when he got the copy in the 50's whoever wrote out the cert got it wrong. So because i've always known it as the 3rd we celebrate it then and then again on the 23rd. my girls say its grandads real birthday and grandads fake birthday----great excuse for more cake though lOl |
