What is up with everyone (well not everyone - a select view)? This is all so pathetic, Joy started an important and significant thread earlier and it only got a view replies but the nasty threads get bundles of replies!! Please enough and get a grip!!! Juliana x

Sorry to see you got no replies to this, Juliana. I agree with you wholeheartedly. I am bored ridged with the squabbling, name calling and digging. As you say, much nicer threads seem to be ignored and all the nasty ones are kept up there by people adding their twopennorth. I don't know what the solution is, other than mediators which I would rather weren't necessary. I can understand people wanting to defend themselves or their friends, but I wish it could just stop at that instead of it all being rehashed endlessly. I always seem to miss the big rows, I just see the aftermath but life's stressful enough without that! Most of us come on here to wind down not get wound up! I hope this thread doesn't bring flack--hopefully it will just counterbalance all the nastiness with a bit of common sense. Well done, Juliana, for saying what a lot of us are thinking! Sal.x

Jack, you are so right! So much horrible stuff happens in real life. This board works best when it's giving support to those who are in pain, and cheers on those who've achieved something special. This site has been brilliant for me--I've made friends, many of whom have given me loads of help with my tree. On this board I've met people in similar circumstances to myself, chatted with people who've needed a bit of support, and had support and advice given back to me. When it works, it works a treat! Hopefully the positive threads can keep the others at bay--I'm sure more people would join if the board didn't look so full of negativity at times. Fingers crossed!
