I went to see it last night, absolutely loved it and I can't wait until it comes out on DVD. Want to go see it again. I would love to see the musical, but it's so expensive! Has anyone read the book? Is it very difficult to read? Gerard Butler (Phantom) phwoar!!! How could he ever think he was ugly?! LOL. I love musicals. Just don't get to see them very often. I saw The Lion King with a friend for my 20th in 2003! Before that the one I last saw was Les Mis in 2000, and before that it was Blood Brothers on a school trip in 97!! Chloe |

I've seen Blood Brothers and Les Mis too! Saturday Night Fever is excellent! Oliver is superb with the most elaborate staging I've ever seen. The only musical I've seen that I was disappointed with was 'Grease'. Becx |

Chloe Thanks for letting us know about how you enjoyed "Phantom" I put a thread on the other week to see if anybody had seen it. Will definitely go to see "Phantom" after Christmas. Sue |

Definitely worth going to see. Probably not as good as the musical, but no one would ever be able to make a film better than a musical production! I was shouting (in my head, mind) at Christine! How thick was she? Did she just think that her psychotic stalker would be fine with it? LOL. |

Chloe I read the book a few years back and really enjoyed it. It was very true to the musical. It was written by Gaston Leroux. If you can't get a copy, you could try your local library. |

I like the book. The film/musical are nowhere near as dark as the book, but the simplification of the plot for the film (getting rid of the Persian) made for a more plausible story. The musical had too many lovey-dovey pathetic songs for a story about betrayl and murder. You can buy the book for £1.50 from Penguin Classics. |
