I dont go on gc that much but when i do i see good emails which i like to read but dont have time for at that time so i nudge them (i have seen this done and explained before) so i can later print them out at my leisure. Now I dont know if you are referring to me, but i am paranoid, i have not abused the system and will not, I have put quite legitimate emails onto this system and I have been a member of this site now since it started. But if you are referring to me, SO WHAT, what have i done wrong? I have not nudged every single email just to get it to the top.... dont be silly, I am not like that. a few of you on there will know who i am through personal emails etc. We are not on Big Brother here, they have their own problems... but I have found this site very "clicky" ok call me paranoid.... ok perhaps you are not talking about me but just wanted to put the record straight. I find a lot of the msgs very very interesting so that is why i nudge them to the top...... And another thing, I see a lot of people who responded treated it as a joke, so no big deal... again i apologise if you did not mean me... best wishes karen (love you all tho dont know you) |

Karen I too find nothing wrong with an occasional nudge. Sometimes you add to the site at a busy time and your message disappears off the first page in minutes before anyone's seen it. I have nudged myself in these circumstances but always do so openly. I think the issue behind the other thread is anonymous nudging - deleting your nudge behind you so people don't see it unless they happen to be looking in the few seconds its there. Some people I agree delete their nudges to be tidy. But there are others, and I won't name them as I don't want to get dragged into the arguments, who anonymously nudge provocative/sensational/politically incorrect threads in order to refuel them. I have no time for this. I don't know what on earth people get out of it. And I think the solution is to ignore such threads so they disappear quickly again, and to do our own nudging openly so others can see its in good faith. If it's for a good reason we have nothing to hide surely. You carry on nudging openly for all the right reasons (being able to print a thread before it disappears off page 15 seems a good one to me), and don't worry about it. I will too. Anyway, that's my two pennorth on the subject. I'll say no more. Angela :) |

I second Di's comment--there is no unwritten rule to say 'thou shalt not nudge'. Don't want to start a row here, Lynda, but why should Karen have to explain herself to you? If you are worried about her nudging taking up space on the board, can I just point out that your complaints about nudging have taken up space too. There is no rule book to this, and nor should there be one. Not sure why we can't just 'live and let live'. I agree there have been the odd offensive comments but the best policy, and the one most people seem to follow, is to ignore them. i donm't want to offend anyone here and I do not want to get involved in an endless row. I just wanted to say what I think a lot of people may be feeling. |

Can't say I've seen anything particularly provocative/sensational/politically incorrect in this soporific upper middle aged haven. Being soporific and middle aged myself, I'd welcome the titillation...and might exercise my option to nudge, for the first time. John in Aus |

The site is always getting new members so nudging up an old interesting or informative thread is a good thing, I think. Threads can soon get lost : ) |

Hi Karen, I sometimes nudge threads so that I can keep an eye on the new ones coming in as well as reading one of mine, rather than clicking back and forth too much. And as i don't get on every day there are some threads that people nudge which i am really pleased to read. I wouldn't worry if I were you, Rosexx |
