Does that seem odd to you? Just been out to the local shops, and saw a woman, at the pavement cafe, smoking a pipe, a big ornate one at that. I'm not one to put things into male/female roles, but a woman smoking a pipe, just didn;t look right. Is it just me, or is a woman smoking a pipe, not 'right'

I cant get me head around women sinking pints, but I appreciate it saves another trip to the bar for the second half! What ever's blowing in the wind Lynda - it takes all sorts love, dont it? Jac

No, in Holland the women all used to smoke pipes..... I don't mean ALL the women.... only the ones who smoked.. :-0) Quite a sight to us as children, we thought it funny. Deanna X

Hello Ladies :) I don't think theres anything wrong with it, just it looked weird, never seen it before, and if you could have seen the pipe, well it was huge and ornate, and the lady was quite elegant, just didn't go together. What sort of pipe did your Grandma smoke then Meercat :)

When I was in Junior school many moons ago, my headmistress used to smoke a pipe she used to puff away whilst I read to her. Occasionly she used to smoke a cigar. Can you imagine that happening today. Sue

I have to confess I once tried to smoke a pipe - it was not successful! It might have been the tobacco in the bowl, but I couldnt really take to it, there seemed to be an enormous rush of tobacco and then nothing for ages! - shame really, cos thinking about it, it sounds really cool! need lots of matches though I think! Jac since posting this I have had serious thoughts about the future of the match industry in this country - if everyone is packing in smoking, will it affect the match industry?
