Splinter Help please????

Laddo just got one stuck under his index finger nail-I just managed to cut his nail got half of it out but the other half is embedded under still-any suggestion how to draw it out, whilst trying to calm a screaming 3 yr old who's crying for Daddy? thanks catherine xx He's calmed down a bit...

certainly soak it in some antiseptic stuff till you can get at it , horrible little things, say auntie lolly says hello will olly be long catherine xx

Catherine, I'm with both those answers. Give it a soak in warm water and disinfectant..... and leave it. If it is really bad take him to the docs, later. I understand you completely ..... mine youngest son always cried for his daddy. the whole world must have thought I was bad to him!! Deanna X

keep a very close eye as some wood can cause it to fester really quickly and cause nasty infection.soaking may make wood swell and become even harder to remove.try very fine tweezers but if in doubt visit docs

I just went to get the anticeptic cos I soaked it already in warm water and he's fallen asleep on his little chair-his head keeps bobbing up and down had to lie him on couch-bless. catherine xx Sleep an Hour then Daddy clocks in PING

Hi Catherine :):) Sorry to hear about the little one, Bless Him. I agree with answers that have already been given, be careful of making a wooden splinter to wet as it will swell the wood also making it hard to remove. Watch out also for infection as this could come on quite quickly also, perhaps if you could visit your local surgery and have the nurse there take a look and remove it if possible especially with someone so young and fingers in all sorts of things and a possibilty of more germs in it. Hope all goes well. Colin :):)

Nice to see you Selina-yes I know what you mean I'm usually gone by 10pm even earlier some nights-OH likes to have me around in the evening-he can get a right cob on-and I usually get 'oh your not on there again are you'? He don't mind really means he can watch documentary channels and Top Gear Thanks Julie and Colin never thought about the wood swelling- gonna see about the plasters-typical innit going away tomoz, laddo going with granma to cottage me and OH weekend away and now this.... catherine xx
