OH half woke at 4 this morning in terrible pain, took some painkillers and they didn't have any effect offered to take him to A & E he said leave it a couple of hours till they have got rid of all the drunks etc. A&E is noted for it's week end drunks.

We went down at 8 and he was seen by triage nurse within 1/2hour waited 1hour to see doctor and then waited until 11.45 for anti viral pills, all they had was 10 pills, pharmacy doesn't open on Sundays so told to take 4 now 4 later today and 2 before bed and go in the morning for rest of prescription. Pills should be taken 4 every 5 hours, doctor said it wont make much difference.

OH then says we should have come yesterday, nearly took him back as a battered husband.

Frances, it is lovely to hear that you too have a husband who has to be dragged to the doctors.

AND YES.... it is always our fault if anything goes wrong.
Shingles IS a very painful thing, and I'm glad he has seen sense, but please... don't beat him.... he is a sick man.

Wait until he is better. ;-0)

Hi Frances
glad hubby managed to get some anti viral pills .I had shingles last year and took the pills but the nerve pain was so bad and I couldnt even have anything next to my skin unless it was soft - he needs to have a hot water bottle when the pain gets too bad and take ibuprofen or something strong.
Hope he gets well soon-please dont beat him!!lol

Well, we told him so didn't we!!!

The anti-virals worked OK for me, five a day - big bullets of things you dissolve in water, and the rash dried up quickly (mind you I caught it FAST) and I had minimal pain.

Best wishes to the patient (and his long suffering Mrs).
