Catherine Cookson is good -but Josephine Cox is far better for my understanding of the Blackburn area.
Funnily enough Frank Spencer has just finished 3 minutes ago on BBC Prime-I still get really worried when he does his diy efforts ,I know I'm supposed to laugh-but he just makes me panick! -ok I'm an Oddball!

Hi Puss, hows you and hows the dreaded FM?I'm ok at the moment, fingers crossed that my FM seems to have settled down since I had that terrible neck pain for over 6 weeks, still awaiting physio appointment! I haven't been adding to threads lately but I do read a few threads most days. I have got well into doing my tree! FIL paid for me to have Ancestry so use it as much as possible.

Capricorn

I agree - can't understand how she came to write the Hamilton stories - rubbish!!

Puss

Scary when you learn about how rellies lived back then. Mine moved to Durham mines to find work. We are lucky with our OHs and your stories of Specky amuse me no end.; they broke the mould after Specky.

Yes Puss, I watched it, Catherine Cookson is on every Sunday evening at 9.00pm on the Drama channel on Sky, very good prog, I love those stories too, all the books I read are of similar times and usually based in the north in the cotton mills or poor houses.
