Malc /GG and Jackie Report 10 Dec 2007 22:11

Malcs Mum is allergic to perfumed soaps and body creams etc. She had a red alergy band put on her arm at Bishops Stortford Hospital stating that she was allergic to soap and only to use plain water when bathing. Harlow Hospital have used Anti Bacterial Wash to try and clean the surface wound that she has where they took her catheter (not sure how you spell it) out and left a wound which got infected with MRSA. Now she has come out in an allergic rash and that has made her quite poorly. Can you believe it!!!??

this poor lady as if she isnt ill enough,,,but can see up to a point why they wouldnt want to keep using anti bac wash where an allergy has flared up,,,,but she shouldnt be in this position in the first place if she had been in MRSA free hospital,,,they have more tan enough to answer for what they have put you all through and more Malcs mum,,,,,,sorry but it make me see red,,that they are still so dammed careless with our more senior people,,,,,,,,

Improvement wishes to this dear lady ,,,,,,,,,

Just hoping that we can get her into a home where they will look after her properly before the hosptial manage to do something that will prove to be fatal.

We are going to the hospital tomorrow so will try and get some answers as to why so many things have done wrong.

Malcs Mum keeps saying "please dont say anything to upset them" so we are wondering whether she has been mistreated or told off!!

It sounds to me Jackie that you need to get her in to that home asap, then you and Malc will feel a bit better too.
Unfortunately money in hospitals seems to be used for administration rather than care and cleanliness. I just hope this poor lady does not have to suffer for much longer.

Sorry to hear this. It is not something your mum should have to deal with. Ask them to use Diprobase which is available on prescription, and is for people with skin allergies. Hope you made you tongue go.

Sadly Malcolm I can believe it - how absolutely dreadful along with all the other glaring mistakes they seem to be making daily. This is peoples lives they are messing with - I do hope you are going to complain about everything in the strongest possible terms. If you need a hand with composing a letter - not meaning to be patronising here really - I'd be more than happy to do a draft

Jackie/Malc..you have to get in there and make them sit up some,,,,shout as loud as you can..protest in no uuncertain terms,,,,it may buck them up a bit if you mention the media----also it could save another elderly person go though the same thing. if .you can make a little impact go for it,,,!!!

It's outrageous that this sort of thing goes on... when you need to go into hospital you are very vulnerable and need very special care especially the elderly like Malc's Mum.
Not a lot I can say without going into a rant so I am sending you...

Huge (((((((((((((((((((((((((((( Hugs )))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

I hope a lovely home is found soon for your Mum Malc so you can all have peace of mind.
